In collaboration with Young Norfolk Artist members and Norwich University of the Arts students Barkus worked to put on two separate events to coincide with the British Art Show 8 in Norwich.
The first event was part of the annual Lord Mayors Procession in Norwich. The group has tasked with representing the British Art Show 8 at the Lord Mayors Procession, and did so by by creating a colourful float decorated in flags inspired by themes from the show. Learning Coordinator and NUA Tutor Sarah Horton described how the group "wanted to make the float eye catching and accessible to attract people to the British Art Show galleries. All of the students designed up to six flags each... it was almost like a moving installation of art through the city.” These flags were then utilised and used to decorate the rotunda at Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery for the second event which was a late evening group 'takeover' of the gallery space at Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery. The only free event and opportunity to catch the BAS8 at Norwich Castle, with an evening of music, craft workshops, and entertainment. Sarah Horton described the takeover event as an opportunity for young people "to open up the exhibitions [...] to a different audience to help them understand the art and appreciate the art in a different way.”
